Executive Summary Management Bios
Your executive summary should include an overview of the management team. This section is your chance to let investors know that you have a talented team without taking too much space on the page.
I recommend that you start this section with a one-sentence overview of your team. This should mention how many people are on the team and their overall expertise. An easy way to sum up your expertise is to indicate the combined number of years of relevant experience that your team has.
After the one-sentence overview you should include up to two, three-sentence bios. The bios should paint a high-level picture of the individual's credentials. The first part of this bio should be an overview of each individual's work experience. This may take one or two sentences. For example, "two-time entrepreneur; founder of company A (5x return)" or "10 years in retail industry. VP of merchandising at Clothing Co". The second part of the bio should be a listing of academic degrees.
If done properly, this section of the executive summary can quickly let VCs know that you are a competent group of professionals, giving them another reason to invite you in for a meeting. As most VCs will tell you, the quality, experience and likeability of the team are essential elements of any investment decision. So be sure to highlight your team’s strengths.
What if you're young guys fresh out of college? We all just graduated from college, created our website, got press on it and are now trying to figuring out a way to make it sustainable. We're impressive for our ages, but not compared to VP of x company. What do you suggest?
