Sit On One Side Of The Table

When your team arrives at the VC's board room you should all sit on the same side of the table. There are several reasons for this.

  1. First, this enables the VCs to face your team, avoiding kinking their necks.
  2. Second, having people surrounding a VC makes it feel like your group is trying to intimidate them. This sends the wrong message.
  3. Third, this is an unsaid etiquette; failure to understand this is an indication that your team may not be competent enough to form future business relationships.

If your team is too big to fit on one side of the table, you brought too many people. See my prior post, Who You Should Bring To Your First Meeting, to get a better sense for target headcounts.

Sit together.  It will make your team appear unified and thoughtful.
