Reader's Survey Results

A good number of you have now responded to the poll that I posted on my blog.

The question that I posed was "which answer best describes your experience with venture capital?"  Here are the poll results as of the 30th:

  1. I am raising money for my venture: 28.9%
  2. I expect to raise money in the future: 28.9%
  3. I'm just interested: 17.8%
  4. I am a VC: 17.8%
  5. I have raised money in the past: 6.7%

What I think is really interesting about the results is the number of VCs and number of experienced entrepreneurs who might be reading this blog.  As I wrote in my Disclaimer post,

"Each VC fund is different. Funds have different cultures, investment strategies and investment processes. The objective of this blog is not to characterize the fundraising process at every VC fund. Not only would that be impossible, it would make for a boring read.  Instead, I am trying to describe what I believe is a relatively generic process."

Given that, it would be great for the community if other VCs and entrepreneurs who have raised capital before commented on my posts more often.  If they have a different perspective on a given topic, a dialogue would really benefit the readers who have not yet raised money.

My overarching goal with the 'Entrepreneur's Guide To Raising Venture Capital' is to create a robust manual for entrepreneurs to reference when they are looking for funding.  More perspectives will inevitably make this tool more useful.
