VCs Are Unavailable On Monday
For most VC funds Monday is a quasi holy day. Most VCs do not schedule meetings or calls on Mondays in order to have a partners meeting where the team can have uninterrupted time to discuss deals and more generally manage the business. They do this because the other four days of the work week are typically full of entrepreneur meetings, due diligence calls, investor follow-ups, networking events and administrative work, leaving little to no time for the partners to meet and make decisions.
There are a few takeaways from this for entrepreneurs.
- If you need to have a call, lunch or meeting with a VC, don’t expect it to happen on Monday.
- You shouldn’t get frustrated if a VC doesn’t respond to your email on a Monday, as they may not get to first look at their email until Tuesday.
- If you want a partnership to make a decision about your business, try to get them all of the requisite information before the next Monday meeting. If you wait until a Tuesday to send them the information that they requested, they may not be able to discuss your venture until the following Monday; you could lose a week and some momentum along with it.
- Showing that you are aware that most VCs have their partners’ meetings on Mondays also demonstrates that you understand how a VC operates.
If you are aware of the fact that VCs typically have a partner’s meeting on Monday you will be better able to manage the pace of communication.
